School Readiness Programs
Funding from the Early Learning Coalition of Okaloosa and Walton Counties, offers financial assistance to eligible families so that they can obtain affordable, quality child care for children ages birth through 9 years. Eligibility requirements are based on total family income with adults within the family employed or engaged in eligible work or education activity for at least 20 hours per week. To begin receiving School Readiness funding assistance, combined earnings, including all sources of income, may not exceed 150% of the Federal Poverty Level. Families may also be referred for child care funding assistance by appropriate community agencies.
What is School Readiness?
The School Readiness Program offers financial assistance to low-income families for early child education and care so families can become financially self-sufficient and their young children can be successful in school in the future.

How do I apply for School Readiness funding assistance?
Local School Readiness funding is limited by the Office of Early Learning allocation of School Readiness funds determined yearly. Unfortunately, due to limited funding, funding is not always immediately available to families that qualify. If funds are not available families are placed on a waiting list and served as funds become available.

How can I get on the Waiting List?
How do I choose a School Readiness program for my child?Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) services will provide you with important consumer information to assist with your child care program search. A list of child care programs, (referrals) based on your individual child care needs, will be computer-generated and sent to you for program selection purposes. After visiting the programs and meeting the staff, you can then make an informed decision concerning selecting your child's program.
